An embroidered knit jumper already has texture before you add anything else. When the knit is striped as well, the easiest styling approach is to let the jumper carry the detail and keep the rest of the outfit relatively simple.
Striped knitwear works best with quieter bottoms
Blue denim, cream trousers, charcoal tailoring and simple skirts all give stripes enough space. You do not need to match every colour in the knit. Picking up one shade from the jumper elsewhere in the outfit is usually enough to make everything feel connected.
Solid knits are easier to layer
A solid sage, cream, grey, baby-blue or peach jumper gives you more freedom underneath and on top. Layer a white shirt collar beneath it, add a trench or wool coat, or keep it simple with straight-leg jeans and trainers.
Let the embroidery be the focal point
Small chest embroidery works because it adds personality without taking over the garment. A cheese motif on the Mildly Mature knit or a duck on the What the Duck jumper is enough detail on its own.
Pair soft colour with stronger neutrals
Pastel and muted knits look especially good with darker grounding colours. Sage with chocolate or charcoal, baby blue with navy, peach with denim and cream with black all create contrast without making the outfit feel busy.
For a relaxed unisex look
Keep the jumper slightly loose, add straight or wider trousers and avoid overcomplicating the silhouette. If the knit has a strong stripe, clean footwear and minimal accessories usually work best.
